GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Authorities arrested a Hall County woman following a pursuit on Saturday.
Officials said a Merrick County deputy saw a blue Ford Escape heading south on 3rd Highway in rural Merrick County.
The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy identified the driver as Abbigail R. Gales, 30, who had two outstanding Merrick County terms.
A chase was launched when Gales fled from law enforcement, officials said.
The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said the pursuit was later halted due to safety concerns for fellow citizens, travelers and bystanders.
Gales continued to drive south on South Locust Street in Grand Island, officials said. She was later arrested by the Grand Island Police Department and transferred to Merrick County custody.
Gales was arrested for two Merrick County bench warrants, a minor probation violation, felony theft to avoid arrest, and misdemeanor willful reckless driving.
The Grand Island Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol assisted in the arrest.
