Aqua Expeditions Adds Fifth Ship to Sail Galapagos

From May 6, 2022, the seven-suite Aqua Mare will offer a choice of two 7-night itineraries exploring the eastern and western regions of the archipelagos, as well as two 14-night trips.

The choice of the Galapagos Islands as the destination of Aqua Expeditions’ fifth ship, is of particular importance as this is where the CEO and founder of the company, Francesco Galli Zugaro, began his professional career in luxury travel.

This is the place that inspired him and his co-founder Fred Brown to launch their own brand of immersive small ship expeditions in the Peruvian Amazon River.

“Since leaving Ecuador in 2006 with the clarity of starting my own business, I have wanted to return to the Galapagos Islands with our own luxury expedition vessel. It’s been 15 years since we ventured to Peru as a family, then to Asia to finally come full circle where it all began, ”said Zugaro.

Designed and built by Italian shipyard CRN, with custom interiors by François Zuretti, Aqua Mare will accommodate up to 16 guests in seven individually designed suites.

Seven suites

The owner’s suite is 80 square meters and the other six suites are 20 square meters each. The interior has a sleek, contemporary look with original Aqua Bali custom plates at 17^e engravings of the century presenting an endemic fauna organized by the director of Aqua Expeditions Birgit Galli Zugaro in 2021.

Zugaro explained the purchase of Aqua Mare: “She caught the eye of our son Massimo on one of those foreclosure days in Singapore as we researched yachts to buy, and we immediately knew he had found something special. “

At 50 meters long and 640 gt, Aqua Mare has four decks with shaded and open terraces, a six person Jacuzzi, an outdoor barbecue area and an early morning workout area.

Italian design

The entire ship is lined with Italian veneer walls and plenty of dining inside and out offering multiple settings for private dining or group celebrations. The Beach Club ‘located at the rear of the lower deck, is equipped with a panoramic beam-to-beam window with hydraulic opening.
